This article presents definitions for identity and cultural identity, and describes different aspects of cultural identity in Iran. Then the dangers that put cultural identity at risk, in particular in Iran, will be discussed. Globalization is identified as one such threat. The role of information services in safeguarding cultural identity will be considered.
