The role of librarians and information professionals in the organizationsʹ knowledge management

In this article definitions and history of knowledge management has coin first, then the phases that library and information specialists can play their role is discussed. Part of the article considers librariansʹ necessary skills and abilities in the field of professional and social skills. In continuation along with reviewing library and information studies course descriptions of the universities and conforming them with the needed skills, the amount of the conformity of these courses with the said skills will be discussed. In the end after a general conclusion necessary recommendations for improvement of the abilities of the students and graduates of the library and information studies in the field of knowledge management is offered.
