Measuring information needs of the researchers of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture

This survey with the aim of considering and distinguishing information needs of 218 researchers working in 32 research centers of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture is being performed. According to the gained results, these researchers use or refer to books %18.8, periodicals (Journals) %18.5, databanks % 18.3, and Internet 14.1 percent. 61.6 percent of their needed information is in English and %37.8 in Persian. Totally, 88.5 percent of researchers use information for advancement of their research, 42 percent for updating their information, 17 percent for work progress, 12.4 percent for teaching purpose, 11 percent for writing purpose, and 2.3 percent for entertainment. Among reference resources, abstracts with 38.8 and indexes 36 percent have the most usage.
