A slight notion of Cybernetics: Information theory and its application in library and information sciences

Information theory intending to discover and improve laws and regulations governing communication systems and information transmission. Information systems are dealing with production, process and dissemination of information, and effective storage and retrieval of information is their main goal. Users of information systems are also faced with the problem of retrieving irrelevant information, so using basic subjects of information theory for coding and processing information in information systems can help the users throught ranking search results during retrieval period to sellect suitable and relevant documents and information. This paper tries to consider these concepts in detail. This research can he the starting point for the coming researches by proffisionals of relevant fields in a way that detailed and precise consideration of different dimentions of application of information theory in information systems may cause improvement in information retrieval.
