Adaptability of the abstracts of the journals of the medical sciences universities with Vancouver Group Procedures and ISO 214

Improving informative content of abstracts and developing a field of coordination and going to the same direction with international abstracting processes is very important. This survey research determines the range of-adaptability of the articles of the journals published by Medical Sciences and Hygiene and Cure Services Universities of Iran and comparing it with Vancouver group producers and ISO 214. For such a review different sections related to abstracting and giving keywords extracted from Vancouver Group Producers and ISO 214 and arranged in two separate checklists. These two checklists completed for each abstract. Research population consisted of 373 research papers. Finding data arranged in tables and charts stating relation, percent, mean, and standard deviation, correlation coefficient, described and analyzed. Full correlation of the researched abstracts with ISO 214 is 83.9 percent (standard deviation 19 percent) and with Vancouver Group Procedures 82.3 percent (standard deviation 14 percent). The research population in "finding statement" section with 98.7 percent has the most and "keywords taken from MESH" section with 50.4 percent has the least adaptability with Vancouver Group Procedures, and in the case of adaptability of abstracts with ISO 214, in "place of abstract" section with 100 percent has most and in "beginning of abstract with a sentence stating the subject of the article" section with 37.3 percent has the least adaptability. The range of adaptability totally, is at a desired limit. Authors and editors with using these procedures and standards can increase this adaptability.
