Collection development in libraries and information centers and policy writing issue; influence of policy and collection development

Information explosion at this age has caused libraries to select the most appropriate resources regarding financial and technological resources they have and considering short-term and long-term objective the library, and plan for collection development in a way that access level to the best information al shortest possible time to be prepared for users, and not to spend time, budget and library facilities to acquire resources that are not compatible with the objectives of the library. Proving this important matter to be true needs a tool which is collection development policy. In this article the necessity of the existence of such a statement in libraries and the way of its compilation has been considered.
