This study has been conducted in order to determine the levels of job satisfaction among the librarians of the National Library of Iran. It uses survey method and a questionnaire is used to gather information. Statistical population was 195 individuals consisting of 147women and 48 men. Results show that there is no relation between job satisfaction and gender, educational documents, occupational background, type of employment, and the functions of the librarians, although there exist a meaningful relationship between job satisfaction and field of study and those who have studied library and information sciences (57.4%) have shown more satisfaction regarding those who have not studied in this field (42.6%), and also, librarians level of satisfaction from existing human relations and management policies has been more than average (according to Likert type scale), but other indicators ( welfare and financial facilities, educational and job promotion opportunities, job security, social rank) were less than average level. Therefore, research hypothesis based on 50% job satisfaction level of the librarians working in the National Library of Iran does not confirm.
