The aim of this study was to investigate the factors influencing job satisfaction among library and information science faculties in Iranian Universities. To do this, two questionnaires were administered in a population consisting 90 faculty members working fulltime in the universities running LIS programs. Faculties in Medical Science universities and in Payam-Noor university were not included in the survey.
The results showed that there are no significant relations between educators job satisfaction and their gender, publication productivity, computer literacy, access to information Technology, work experience in libraries, teaching at different grades and their professional activities. However, there are significant differences about the extent of educatorsʹ job satisfaction between those working in universities affiliated to the Ministry of science, Research and Technology and Azad universities. Also, there are significant differences in the extent of job satisfaction among faculties who graduated from foreign universities, universities affiliated to the Ministry of science, Research and Technology and Azad universities.
