Information needs assessment of Social Security Organization (Mashhad branch) personnel

This research aimed at surveying the information needs of the staff in the Social Security Organization (SSO) of Mashhad. A questionnaire was distributed among 223 employees at three levels (top managers, middle managers and lower managers) and analysing the data by means of (X2) and correlation tests showed that: 1) There is a difference between the information needs of SSO staff at the three management levels; 2) There is not significant difference in the use of inter-organizational and external-organizational information between the number of clients and the information needs of the personnel; 3) There is a positive correlation between the number of clients and the information needs of the personnel; 4) Although the staff of various departments have different information needs, the sources they use are the same with regard to inter-organizational and external-organizational information sources; 5) Senior managers are not aware of the information needs of their subordinate personnel.
