A Review of programs for undergraduate LIS education in Iran

Compares the programs for undergraduate library education in Iran before and after the Islamic Revolution. Reviews two Programs in Tehran University and Tabriz University before the Revolution and two Programs (approved in 1988 and 1996) from the point of contents and changes. The programs from before and after the Revolution show 66.67% similarity in content. Variation in subjects in the programs from after the revolution is less than the variation after the revolution. The programs from after the revolution have more variation in the title and number of credits. No new courses in information science and new technologies are added to the programs after the revolution. Courses like" Information sciences" and "Research methodology" have been deleted. The new program proposed and approved by Ferdowsi University in 2001 provides students with the knowledge about the new electronic environment and the new information and communication technologies.
