Short-Term Complications of Structural Allografts in Treating Orthopaedic Lesions

Structural bony allograft are bones taken from the same species in the treatment of a variety of tumoral and non tumoral lesions. The major short-term complications of allograft are fracture, infection and nonunion. Allograft fracture and nonunion can be managed with different surgical and non surgical methods. Allograft infection, especially in immune-compromised cancer patient is very hard to treat and can often lead to limb ablation surgery.
