Punch Graft Plus PUVA Thrapy for Treatment of Limited Area of Resistant Vitiligo

Punch graft has been used for treatment of vitiligo in resistant and limited area but until now, there isnʹt any report of its application and results in Mashhad. In this clinical trial, efficacy of this method plus PUVA therapy in limited and resistant area of vitiligo was evaluated. Punch graft was used for treatment of limited and resistant area of vitiligo in seven patients. 2 weeks after punch graft when viability was obtained, these area were treated with PUVA. This study was done between 1998-2001. In all cases, the results were successful and 2-4 weeks after PUVA therapy, pigmentation appeared around the grafts and progressed for mean 3.57"^ (Min 2"^- Max: 5"^). More than 70% of patients are relatively satisfied with results and the only important complication was cobble stoning appearance in recipient site. This method can be used in conjunction with PUVA therapy for treatment of limited area of resistant vitiligo. However, its complication and difficulties should be considered by physician and must be explained for the patient.
