Case Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis,Report of a Case

Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) is a nonbacterial inflammatory process of bony structures with unknown etiology. Unpredictability and spontaneous resolution of episodic attacks is characteristic of the disease. CRMO affects children and young adults more frequently, and may accompany psoriasis or palmoplantar pustulosis. With regard to the difficulty in differentiation of this inflammatory process from bacterial or neoplasic disorders of bone tissue, acquaintance with its specifications could result in subtraction of unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic manoeuvres. The diagnosis is based on its chronic course and favorable response to antiinflammatory drugs, and ruling out other possibilities. This present a 17-years-old boy with CRMO who, due to alienation of most physicians with the disorder, endured different diagnostic work ups and took numerous drugs for a decade, before the correct diagnosis was given.
