SHIʹA AND THE PROBLEM OF LEGITIMACY: BETWEEN AND TEXT

Legitimacy is the justification of government and sovereignty. There are two completely different approaches to legitimacy: A) Theory of final legitimacy, and, B) Theory of agentitive or cotructional legitimacy. The Former was dominiting in moslemsʹ mind from the rise of Islamic medieval civilization to the establishment of Islamic modernity. But the latter (agentitive legitimacy) has often been accused for its irrelevance to shiʹite Islam sources or texts. This essay rejects this claim and insists on the relationship of shiʹa texts especially Irian Ali texts and actions - to agentitive / contructional approach to legitimacy.
