INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS FOR PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF DISABLED RIGHTS

Existance of more than 600 millions disabled with different physical, mental and social causes is an universal issue which demands common international efforts and committment for bringng them living with dignity on the basis of human rights standards. United Nations from 1970s in a progressive way began activities and adopted a set of resolutions, reports, standard rules, plan of actions. In spite of United Nations efforts, till now there is no an obligatory international instrument. For elimination of this problem, pursuant to resolution of U.N Human Rights Commission in 2002, codification of a comprehensive and integrated international convention for protection of disabled began. This article reviews United Nations activities in this improtant human Rights issue.
