The incidence of lesions caused by removable denture wears among the patients of Dental Faculty of Tehran University of Medical Sciences 2000-2001 (Research)

Those complications caused by removable dentures contains a wide range of oral mucosal lesions. The prevention of such lesions is in the responsibility of both dentis and patients. A descriptive cross-sectional study on 60 patients with complications of dentures consists; (35%) of 60 patients was male and (65%) was female 88.33% of 60 patients had used Acrylic complete denture. 77 denture induced lesions was observed in 60 patients. (55%) had epulis fissuratum, (38.33%) had denture stomatitis (23.33%) had angular chelitis, (8.33%) papillary hyperplsia of palate and (3.33%) had flabby ridge (38.33%) for construction of his / her denture went to a dental technician and (41.44%) to a (dentist). In this study, as overall, epulis fissuratum, denture stomatitis and angular chelitis have the most frequency, and a higher incidence in female at fifth and sixth decade.
