The present investigation was designed to study how and to what extend light, intermediate and heavy exercise can afect anxiety. It was a quasi experiment survey consisting of multi group pre and post test. Subjects recruited in the study resided in a training center for at least three months during which the two stages of sampling took place. Two hundred subjects (18-21 years old) filled the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Subjects who had higher scores on the test were recruited for the next stage. Then Subjects were divided randomly in to 3 groups of light, intermediate and heavy exercises. Individual in all 3 groups exercised early in the morning for 40 minutes, Six days a week for 40 days. The Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was administered again at the end of the period. Results indicate that state anxiety was markedly diferent in heavy exercise group compared to the light and intermediate exercise groups. The trait anxiety was only slightly diferent between the light and heavy exercise groups. It was concluded that physical exercise can assure reducing the anxiety level.
