Study of the related factors in couplesʹ sexual relationship during pregnancy

Background : Recognision of the related sex factors in pregnancy is important for prevention of complications of couplesʹ sexual relationship during pregnancy which aggrevate the pregnancy complications. Objective : To determine the related factors in couplesʹ sexual relationship during pregnancy. Methods: Through a clustered , random sampling research , 385 pregnant women who referred to health centers of Esfehan city from May 1999 to June 1999 , were studied. Findings : 68% of the pregnant women had complications in their sexual relationship during pregnancy. The results indicated that individual , physiological and psychological factors, sexual knowledge in pregnancy and complications in sexual relationship before pregnancy were considered as related factors in complications of sexual relationship during pregnancy. Conclusion : According to the high prevalence of complications of sexual relations during pregnancy and its negative effects on the psychological health of the family , health directors must develop more educational programs in this regard.
