Designing a Model for Farmers Organization Based on the Opinions of Agricultural Extension Experts in IRAN

Nowadays, because of population growth, unemployment and poverty in the world, agricultural development programs play a major role in different communities.F.A.Oʹs study indicated that: without actual farmersʹ participation, Agricultural Extension & Research Systems canʹt achieve their sustainable agricultural development goals. So; they must apply Participatory Approaches and Decentralized strategies for reducing the responsibilities of government bodies. ln this way, FAO supports programs, which encourage farmersʹ participation through non-governmental organizations. This survey, studied the characteristics of Farmers Organizations as a kind of NGO in agricultural systems in different countries. Also the view points of extension specialists working in the universities and agricultural ministry about Iranian F.Osʹ characteristics that suitable with cultural and social conditions of farmers studied. Population of research was 93 extension specialists that working in the Agricultural Faqulties and Ministry of Jihadagriculture.Nonparametric tests (Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney) used for analyzing data and meansʹ comparison. Results indicated: Extension specialists agreed with 40 characteristics throw of 52 F.Osʹ characteristics that studied in other countries. The other 12 characteristics have significant differences in specialistsʹ attitudes. Factor Analysis of the accepted characteristics identified 6 main Factors. These factors were named as: participation, organization, sources, Policy, Services and Performance. Nine characteristics with factor loadings of less than 0.5 were omitted. Armer-sellected managerial board of Farmers Organization, Agricultural Marketing and Information Services, Participation in canditaiting an agent in regional agricultural research and extension policymaking, Free subscription in F.O.s, Participation in canditaitingan agent in national agricultural research and extension policymaking, Feedback results of agricultural development programs to related research centers and governments agents, were characteristics with high rate of specialistsʹ agreement for modeling Farmersʹ Organization in lran.
