Effect of Some Antitranspirants on Vegetative Characteristics, Yield and Yield Parameters of Corn under Limited Irrigation

A sudy was conducted to evaluate the effect of some antitranspirants on vegetative characteristics, yield and yield parameters of corn (Hybrid SC 704) under limited irrigation. A complete randomized block design with four replications was used in the research field of Urmia University in 2000. The treatments consisted of Atrazin 400 ppm, Paraffin 1 %, paraffin + citowett 2 %, wax 10% and control. After spraying of the crop with antitranspirants (60 days after planting and at pollination stage) irrigation intervals increased from 7 days to 12. The results showed that application of various antitranspirants increased the value of traits such as grain yield, number of kernel rows, number of kernels per row, 1000 grain weight, plant height, ear leaf area, number of node and internodes. Among the treatments Atrazin resulted in maximum dry matter per unit area. It may be said that these antitranspirants could be successfully used for increasing production of corn under limited irrigation conditions.
