Evaluation of Effective Factors on Youthʹs Religious Identity in Shiraz City

Identity is one of the complex issues in sociology. In this article, religious identity of youth in Shiraz city and its important determinants have been examined. Results were derived from 400 youths who were selected randomly through cluster sampling of 252350 population show that gender, family and friendʹs religiousity and level of secularism have significant relation with youthʹs religious identity. Multivariate analysis suggests that among these variables friendsʹ religiousity had the greatest impact on youth religious identity (B=0.454). After that, level of secularism is the most important variable (B=0.226). Results of path analysis show that some important variables such as education level, political satisfaction and globalization have significant relation with religious identity though secularization (R2 = 0.547). This research also shows that the action interpretational references have become plural in the modern world and religion is an important reference to interpret actions competing with them.
