Kay Kavoosʹ Ascension to the sky(Comparison of Denkart and Ferdowsiʹs Shahnameh) (scholarly/research)

According to myths, Kay Kavoos is the second king of Kyanid dynasty. He possesses god-like power as cited in Shahnameh, yet deceived by Ahriman (ratan), he is tempted to rule over the skies. Thus, he flies up by four eagles. But he falls down as soon as the eaglesʹ power is exhausted. Comparing this tale with Fargord 21 of Denkart 9, shows that Ferdowsi has taken advantage of old texts such as Khoday-Nameh and some Pahlavi texts like Denkart 9, comparison of which illuminates the differences and common points. Taking into account the above tale as well as the story of Bozorgmehr, it becomes clear that Fedowsi relied more, on written Pahlavi texts and Khoday-Namehs than narrations and oral literature.
