The Content Analysis of the Iranian Nationwide Newspaper Editorials in 1378

The content of communication messages is affected by the media organization directly and by social environment indirectly. Political, economic, and cultural structures are three elements of this social environment. Based on this framework, the content of newspapers, in general, and the content of editorials, in particular, may be scientifically explained. A glance at the contents of the editorials published in 16 nationwide dailies in 1378 indicates that interior political affairs are the most significant issue in these editorials. Democracy, followed by social justice, development, and ethics are the. most significant values reflected in these editorials. The messages in these editorials are mostly one.way ones. In addition, the editorial writers have mostly tried to analyze the issue under consideration or express their opinions without providing sufficient evidence.
