Who Is the Author of the Masnavi Entitled Tariq al-Tahqiq?

The author is an Afghan scholar who has made the poetical works of Hakim Sanaʹi his specialty. This eminent Sufi poet of Ghazna, who flourished in the 6th century A.H./12 century C.E., has a large body of work, including his divan, and several compositions in masnavi format. One of these is Tariq al-Tahgiq that the author and a large number of scholars firmly believe to be by Sanaʹi. Not so, have said some others. One of these detractors is Professor Bo Utas of Uppsala University (in Sweden), who has attributed the masnavi in question to a certain Ahmad b. Masan b. Muhammad of Nakjavan, who has no other poetical works to his credit. The author devotes his whole paper to refuting this claim.
