The present paper intends to explicate civil religion according to Rousseau. For this purpose, it first gives an account of the nature and development of civil religion and after presenting Rousseauʹs view on the matter, examines the relationship between his civil religion and Islam as he himself refers in his discussion of civil religion to Islam.
