Introduction of Power System Planning Methods in Exclusive and Competitive Environments and Presenting a New Algorithm for TEP in Competitive Environment

Modification of power system planning models, because of deregulation, is avoidable. Competition as a main property of dereguation caused many changes in the power system planning models and methods. In this paper after description of differences between Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) in conventional and deregulated environments, TEP models in these two systems are specified. Finally, a new algorithm considering LMP for TEP based on competitive electricity markets with case study is presented. The main characteristics of this approach are: 1- It encourages competition. 2- It provides fairly access to cheap generation for all consumers.
