چكيده لاتين :
Traditional wind towers have been high slender 4,6 or 8 sided tower structures, which were established on building roofs and besides dome roofs of Aubanbars in desert regions of Iran. In addition, the outlooks of these structures have been used for natural air
• conditioning. In order to correct traditional wind towers and their revival, new designs for air conditioning and cooling purposes with less energy consumption can be developed. The use of two types of wind towers, one having a wetted column and the other, wetted
• surfaces (of straw or feather) remove most of disadvantages of traditional wind towers. In this paper, temperature, flow rate and cooling generated have been measured as parameters for the two above-mentioned designs. Regarding results of experimental measurements and numerical analysis, wind towers whit wetted column and those whit feather moistened surfaces have shown good performance in windy regions of low-speed wind regimes respectively. In general, the results obtained and their comparison whit water coolers lead to the conclusion that wind towers whit straw wetting surfaces have the lowest cost and good performance and can be used in new buildings in desert regions.
