Nahj-Al Balaagha and Old Persian Poetry

Thisʹ paper investigates and analyses the effect of Naha-A1 Balaagha on the verse of Persian poets since the fourth to the end of the eighth centuries (A.H.). Evidences indicate that the rich literary quality of Nahj-Al Balaagha had inspired poets, such as Ferdowsi, Samos, Nizami, Naser-e-khosrow, Asadi Toosi, to name, but a few. This analysis indicates that old Persian poets, depending on the social context and the conditions of the time, selected issues in Nahj-Al Balaagha as subject matter for their verses but while poets exploited the content of Imam Aliʹs text, they avoided Arabic diction.
