PLACE AND PLACELESSNESS:A PHENOMENOLOGICAL APPROACH

The Present article is among the analytical review articles and the research based on library research using reliable and related resources. In this study place and placelessness issues are analyzed with a phenomenological approach. The lack of identity and the crisis of the placelessness in contemporary urban spaces have been among the basic arguments in architecture and urban planning, and apart from the geographical situation of countries, have always been the center of attention, since the second half of the 20th century. In this article, at first the role of phenomenological thoughts in decreasing or making a balance in the crisis of place has been discussed briefly, and then the phenomenon of place, structure of place and placelessness under the Heideggerʹs thoughts have been analyzed and at the end, the change in humanʹs vision about himself and the world and his/her present-at-hand relation with the environment are discussed as one of the major reasons of place crisis in our era.
