The Aspects of Privatization and Its Effects on Private Investment in Iran

Privatization is a way for relying on market in resource allocation. It is one of the main policies in many developing countries including Iran. It pursues the goals such as lower governmentʹs burden, higher competitiveness and effectiveness, and more returns to investment. This article first refers to definitions of privatization and its implementation trend in Iran and then studies its effect on private investment there. In this way, it uses Sandra Janʹs pattern (1998) to estimate this effect and the data for the period 1961-90. The results show that privatization and public investment have positive effects on private investment. So a combination of public and Private sectors in any economy seems to he necessary.
