The managerial styles of commanders and managers of crises are among the factors influencing the successful management of crises. Kurt Lewin and colleagues at the University of Iowa identified three types of leadership (management) style: authoritative, participative, and delegative.
The main question raised by the present article is which style is employed by the operational-level commanders of the Resistance Force as a basic one, from among the styles of management, and which style is secondary and extendable. This question is followed by comparing the leadership style of commanders in normal and critical circumstances; hence the cities of Mashad, Ahwaz, and Shiraz were selected as statistical communities for study. The results indicate that 39 percent of the commanders of Baseej Resistance centers have chosen the Consultative style as the basic style, with another 34 percent choosing the Participative style as basic. The elite consider the Participative style as the most effective in critical circumstances.
