Design of RDC Columns Using Entrainment-Dispersion Model

In this research, entrainment of continuous phase beside its dispersion was considered Data obtained from two different RDC columns using two different systems was used to optimize the entrainment coefficient of the continuous phase. In this work a combination of forward mixing and entrainment-dispersion which model the behavior of the dispersed and continuous phases was used to model the column mass transfer. Olneyʹs model using Klee-Treybal correlations for terminal velocity calculations was used to model the column hydrodynamics. Overall mass transfer coefficients were calculated using Handlos and Baron turbulent circulating drop model.
