A Research on The Concept of Religious and Mystic Experience In Persian Literature

Man is capable to commune spiritually with God due to the presence of a Divine aspect, spirit, in him. This communion takes place between God and the soul of man, and there is no need for any "other". However, there is sometimes a need for some preliminaries so that man may commune with God: Seeing a thing or performing an action, which can be considered as a kind of experience, may function as a preliminary step to remember God and commune with Him. Any such experience, through which man may commune with God, i. e., be somehow aware of His presence, is called religious, and sometimes mystic, experience. Since the Knowledge of God acquired byʹ individuals differs with the difference of intelligence power and the kind of belief, we can say that intelligence and persomal belief have a significant role in interpreting religious experience. During the last few decades, religious experience has been one of the main topics discussed in the fields such as philosophy of religion and sociology of religion by the western authors mostly on the basis of Christian beliefs and thought. In this article, the concept of religious and mystic experience in Persian Literature is discussed.
