U.S. Military Expenses in the War against Iraq

Lacking U.N. approval, the Bush administration unilaterally attacked Iraq during the March 2003. After a short war, the U.S. occupied the target country. Detection and removal of WMD as well as establishing democracy, was originally declared as the main objectives of the war. Potential expenses and benefits of this project, however, are no less significant than those of the publicly discussed objectives. Their examination, therefore, may partly reveal the secret objectives. One of the incentives of the U.S. decision makers in this internationally disapproved unilateral attempt, is to be found in the Iraqi huge oil reserves. Probing the pre-war conditions, the author deals with predictable expenses of war and military occupation. Finally, Current problems and a perspective of the next situations are roughly drawn.
