SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS METHOD FOR CONTROL OF TAP CHANGERS IN MID - TERM VOLTAGE STABILITY

In this paper the influence of tap changers in mid - term voltage stability is examined and a method for control of tap changers is presented. Tap changers are controlled such that upon occurrence of a disturbance in power system, voltage collapse is prevented and load shedding is also reduced. The method described is based on sensitivity analysis and is simulated on IEEE 1F--bus system. In this system a transformer with changing tap is added to each load. Simulations indicate significant reduction in load shedding required to prevent voltage collapse during a disturbance. In this paper also sensitivity used in voltage stability analysis is compared with eigenvalues of Jacobean matrix. This indicates that using this sensitivity calculation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of Jacobean matrix is not required.
