RECOVERY OF THE EAF DUST FOR THE PRODUCTION OF IRON PELLETS

Every year a considerable amount of electric arc furnace dust is produced during the production of iron and steel. Electric arc dust, in excess to iron, contains a great deal of toxic metals such as, zinc, lead and cadmium, that storage of these kind of dusts in the unprotected fields, will contaminate the environment. In this research, these kinds of dusts are used for the production of iron pellets. 1.2.2,5 and 3percent of these dusts are used for the production of iron pellets. The physical and chemical properties of these pellets such as, Degree of Metallization, Metallic Iron Percent, Basicity, Abrasive index, porosity and ... are investigated. The results of this research show that the consumption of 2percent of these dusts does not have any side effects on the pellets. Moreover, some of the properties of pellets are still acceptable with the addition of 3percent of the dust.
