A CASE REPORT OF LEIOMYOMA OF THE SMALL INTESTINE

One of the confusing causes of gastrointestinal bleeding, the origin of which is sometimes difficult to determine especially when the tumor is small, is small bowel leiomyoma. In this report, a case is presented in which according to the mobile mass noticed in the right lower quadrant alongwith clinical symptoms observed, he was adviced for radiological, sonographic and CT scan. Small bowel soft tissue mass was confirmed upon these findings and the patient underwent surgical treatment. Small bowel leiomyoma originates from smooth muscles of the small bowel submucosa, subserosa, and sometimes from vascular wall muscles. It has not received much attention in view of its uncommon occurrence. it is preoperatively diagnosed by the radiological studies generally done as barium enema, visualizing small bowel through angiography and CT scan, suggesting the necessity of surgical treatment.
