Study of the Effect of Walnut on the Blood Lipids and Lipoproteins in Healthy Woman

Ischemic Cardiac diseases are one of the main causes of human mortality and the imbalance of blood lipids is considered a risk factor for cardiac diseases . In this study , 60 healthy female students of medicine and medical sciences , enjoying a natural level of blood lipids were selected . They had a fixed diet from two weeks before the study up to the end . At the outset , after taking fast blood samples , 35 grams of walnut was added to their diets . 4 weeks later , their blood lipids and Lipoproteins were measured again . Firally , a significant decrease in LDL-c and triglyceride and a significant increase in HDl-c were observed . Total cholesterol ratio was not observed . The results indicated the profitable effects of walnut on the blood lipids .
