This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of media on cullus induction and plant regeneration from anther culture of some Iranian rice cultivars (cvs. Sadri. Rashti. Salari. Mohammadi-Chapar-Sar. Ghasrod dashti and Amol-3) and F1 (Rashti IR-28. Sadri Amol-3 and IR-28 Salari) rice plants. This study was carried out at Amol rice research
station. In this study 6 callus induction media (N6, Fj, Fj1, Fj4, L8 and G1), and 3 regeneration media (SK11.. M5 and M7), were used. Anther culture was initiated for all cultivars and F, plants. The results showed that F, from Sadri Amol-3 had the maximum callus production (11.6%) and plant
regeneration in G, and SK„ media, respectively. Two F1 rice plants (Rashti IR-28 and IR-28 Salari) showed the maximum callus production
in N6 medium. And resulted maximum regeneration in M5 and SKI, medium, respectively. Sadri and Salari had the maximum callus production in Fj and Fj4 media, respectively. Callus induction medium (N6) and plant regeneration medium (M5) were the best for cv. Rashti, Mohammadi-Chapar-Sar. Ghasrod-Dashti and Amol-3 had the maximum callus production in Fj1, Fj, Fj1 media, respectively. Also M5 medium was the best for Mohammadi-Chapar-Sar. Ghasrod-Dashti and Amol-3 for regeneration.
