DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF WATER LOAD ON PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA IN STUDENTS RESIDING IN MEDICAL FACULTY DORMITORIES

The Uterine activity in dysmenorretic women is abnormal. Vasopressin causes contraction by stimulation of via receptors. Water load is an important factor in reducing the release of Vasopressin. In this study , effect of water load on intensity of primary dysmenorrhea has been determined.The intensity of dysmenorrhea in 59 women ,case group in cycle with water load & in cycle without water load and control group has been compared . For statistic calculation of collected data, SPSS has been used . Objectives have been considered meaningful if p < 0.05. Data about duration of pain and discomfort , intensity of pain in minutes 0,45 , 90 and 120. have been collected .Results showed that the intensity of pain 90 minutes after the start of pain was significantty lower in the case group with water load and level of discomfort 45 and 90 minutes after the start of pain was significantly lower in those with water load cycles as conpared to the non water load cycles and the control group.Duration of pain in case group with water load was significantly lower than the cycle without water load .We propose that women with dysmenorrhea should drink lot of fluids during their menses so as to prevent dehydration.
