The causes of Infant mortality and Comparison of two 5 - Year periods.

Infant mortality is considered as one of the important criteria of a societyʹs health. Prematurity and septicemia have been two main causes of death among the newborn. in Iran during the last two decades. Fortunately, these two causes are preveutable. In our pilot study, too, it is observed that although the number of hospitalizations in creased, the rate of septicemia decreased. There fore, it is still possible to lower the mortality rate down resorting to preventive measures before and after childbirth. In developed countries such as Spain, congenital anomalies are the top causes of in fant mortality. However, it is the respiratory dystress in Italy which is the main cause of death among in fants.
