Straits, Ducts and Chokepoints, Marine Geostrategy for Oil Distribution

Transportation of oil materials is one of the most important strategic processes of resources in world economy. This role of oil is not exaggerated. Yet, while the oil process is limited, oil is invisibly changing into strategic goods. But events such as unrests of oil shock in 1973 show its importance. Whereas at about two thirds of the world productive oil is transported through the marine, constraints of oil supply and demand distribution is avoidable and process of marine commerce involves utilization of a number of straits, ducts and chokepoints of marine processes. This article is an overview of oil supply and demand geography which arc strategic processes and connected with marine processes. The chokepoints arc regarded as resources which its value according to usage level of them is elastic. As oil fields are ending, the importance and vulnerability of strategic straits are increasing. Their capacity for controlling additional passage is reducing and this question predicating that future oil shock or unrests are more connectcd with oil distribution.
