The Mission & Role of the Islamic University in Civilization-Building and Producing of Religious

This article discusses the role and position of Iranian universities in producing indigenous and locally-oriented sciences and skills. First, it reviews the history of changes that have occurred in higher education centers and their function in recent decades. Then it discusses their changing process that helps universities to adapt themselves to the cultural, social, political and economic situation of Iran, following the victory of the Islamic Revolution. These issues include the Cultural Revolution, developmental rules, and the 20-year outlook, which are all necessities for universities to mould their mission, functioning and structure with the requirements of the society, especially the cultural characteristics of the Iranian society. In the end a systemic chart of all these elements and results has been drawn up.
