Relationship between personality and marital satisfaction

The purpose of the prese nt study was to determine the relationship between the personality varia bles of the five-fac tor mode l and marita l satisfaction. The sample of the study included 400 mothers ofprimary school children in Tehran. Data was collected through administration of NEG-Five Factor Inventory and ENRICH questionnaire. The result s of the study showed significant nega tive relationship between Neuroticism and marital satisfaction. But agreeableness and conscientiousness were positively correlated with mari tal satisfac tion. These findin gs suggest that agreeablenes s and consc ientiousness deserve increased attention as significant corre lates of marital satisfaction. Key words:
