چكيده لاتين :
Modification of the mechanical properties of silico ne rubber were considered for drug delivery systems
by using high-energy electron beam (E-beam). In this research work, two diffe rent medical
grades of silicone ru bbers were used to prepare matrices containi ng lOwt% progesterone with 2 mm
thickne ss and irradiated with E-beam at dose range of 25 up to 200 kGy. Then, the mechanical properties
as well as in vitro drug relea se from matrices were investigated. It was observed that the
mechanical propert ies of matric es increased initially as a function of irradiation dose due to increasing
cross link density and reduction of the molecul ar weight between the cross links and eve ntually
they were leveled off. Also. there was no significan t difference in the progesterone release by
increasing the irradiation dose. Progesterone crys tal modification was not observed durin g E-beam
crosslinking process
