Climatic Changes and Erosion Processes during Pleistocene and Holocene: Geomorphic Evidences

During the cold and dry phases of Pleistocene and wet and warm periods of early Holocene major changes occuned in erosion systems on earth surface. The result of these changes was the formation of depositional and erosional landforms caused by fluvial or glacial processes. In northern and mid - northern hemisphere, were and northern Iran (Sabalan and Sahand Mts.) were influenced by these changes, and triggered the formation of geomorphic landforms. The characteristics of these landforms are the presence of evidences of rapid climate evolution during late Pleistocene and early Holocene. These landforms consist of Ushaped valleys, glacial hollows on altiutudes, morines, old landslides and alluvia] fans,thick alluvium and terraces. In this paper we focus on the evidences of shifts in Pleistocene glaciations to wet Holocene and geomorphic in landforms in time span.
