A Study of Relationship between Fluctuations of Autumnal Precipitation in East Azerbaijan and EI Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) Large Scale Atmospheric-Oceanic Circulation Pattern

In this research We have focused on EL Nino- Southern Oscillation or "ENSO" Large Scale Atmospheric- Oceanic Circulation Pattern indices (sea level pressure (SLP) fluctuation for Southern Oscillation index (SOI) and sea surface temperature (SST) for ninol+2, nino3, nino3.4, nino4 indices) trying to establish a relationship between ENSO phenomenon, monthly precipitation anomalies, and drought occurrence in eastern Azerbaijan Province. The main methodologies being used in this research are Pearson correlation, lag time correlation analysis method, linear and polynomial regression and time series for the analysis of ENSO and precipitation fluctuations method. The results of this study indicate that there is significant relationship between ENSO phenomenon and precipitation anomalies and occurrence of autumnal drought in the study area.
