رخداد مسموميت با آرسنيك در يك گاوداري شيري صنعتي در اصفهان

Arsenic poisoning in an industrial dairy herd in Isfahan.

Six milking and dry Holstein cows in a herd with 550 dairy cattle showed diarrhea, weakness and recumbency and had no response to routine conservative treatment. Along with history taking and clinical examination of the affected cattle, the macroscopic and microscopic pathology as well as tissues chemical analysis were performed on one case. Post-slaughter inspection revealed rose-red discoloration of serosal surface of small intestines, severe edema of abomasal wall, hemorrhage and necrosis of small intestinal mucosa and multiple small round center depressed lesions on liver surface. Histopathologic findings showed abomasal hyperemia, lymphatic distention and edema which caused separation of different layers of abomasum, hemorrhagic and necrotic enteritis and foci of hepatocytes destruction which were replaced by fibrinous exudate and erythrocytes. Arsenic concentration of liver and gastrointestinal specimens were estimated 5 ppm (mg/kg). Clinical signs, pathologic lesions and toxicological findings clearly indicated arsenic poisoning in the affected cattle.
