John Foranʹs Word System Theory and the Islamic Revolution of Iran

This article is an attempt to assess applicability of John Foranʹs World System Theory. Thus, the article while aiming to review john Foranʹs theory as regards the opening of the world system and its impact on the Islamic Revolution, tries to test the scientific and practical value of the theory. The result attained from this theory is that the opening of the world system in relative terms created the context for the Islamic Revolution to occur. The Human Rights politics of the Carter Administration, the President of the most powerful nation, influenced the Iranian society indirectly, and performed the main role in reduction of suppression and the opening up of the political climate. Finally, that part of Foranʹs theory emphasizing Americaʹs inaction vis-a-vis Iran, using credible sources, is clearly refuted and annulled.
