An Analysis of the Comparative Advantages in Iranʹs Fustian Industry

In this paper, attempts have been made to measure and analyze the comparative advantage in Iranʹs Fustian Industry ( as one of the sub-sectors to the Textile Industry) for the period 1996-2001. For this purpose, the Domestic Resource Cost (DRC) together with the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) have been utilized ( for assessing the comparative advantage of the firms based on the DRC, we have employed the industrial accounting method). Based on the DRC, the results show that the selected firms all enjoy specialization in producing Fustian, however, the specialization is diminishing over time. While adjusting the DRC formula by means of depreciation cost the results demonstrate that the firms do not show the advantage any more.
